Why??

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 27, 2005, 4:40 PM
(This is *swandog, highjacking my hubby's journal for a moment to post this, because I've been uploading several pics for him today...)

To those watching Sayh or those who happen to stop by his gallery here, yes we took a lot of redundant pics of the Sagelva waterfalls and stream in Sagdalen, a short drive down the road from our house. We did this to show everyone how beautiful it could be there, but unfortunately, one is unable to crop their vision as easily as one can crop a photo. The people living around there don't seem to appreciate the natural beauty of these falls, for it's steep and difficult to get down to them, it's all wooded and overgrown with no paths or places to sit, and there is trash thrown everywhere, which we had to crop out of every single photo we took. These pics were taken now before the trees have leafed out so that the falls are easier to see and get down to, but we'd like to go back when the water is warmer and haul the trash out, at least (if the city doesn't), so that this place can be enjoyed the way it should be...But of course, someone will just come along and litter it up again.

Why don't people care?? They have to live there too and must look at the trash; don't they get tired of it? Don't they want to sit by the peaceful falls and lose themselves in the music of the water? I guess not, because this place isn't a park and no one seems to bother with it, except to use it as a dump. People who live here all their life seem to take the nature for granted, having grown numb to the beauty all around them, and couldn't care less about polluting the environment and ruining it for their children and for generations to come. Where I come from, we have no nature like this, and I'm as awed by the beauty as I am stunned by the carelessness of the people living here. People driving and walking by probably wonder why we take pics of such "mundane roadside scenery", but we do it because its beauty should be preserved in real life just as it much as it deserves to be immortalized in photos.
